Service Plans and the Muse

Photo taken today, 4/6/26

Below is where in Colorado Springs I took photo the above photo:

I was waiting for the shocks on my car to get done. It was one of those service contract expiring soon things. (Although it is likely I will renew it.)

I get the shocks which are up for renewal now and they are free. If I wait til next month and they will be $780.00.

The car has gotten new battery and wipers and will get new front brakes soon also. (Shocks are the only things covered by the service contract but they are the most expensive.)

I’ve also started supporting Save the Kids organization. The decision rose in a moment of synchronicity. It seemed like the right course of action.

Mixed in with the worldy activities I am also feeling introspective over the holiday. Journal writings inspire and at times feel like a crucible, but I don’t mind that. I actually like it because feelings deepen and grow more clear. The muse comes in the depth and hides in the surface, and since I can’t always control when the muse comes, when it does it is a gift.

Why don’t I write those writings here? They are of a different sort. My blog posts are like the Reader’s Digest version of my life. I am developing the muscle of writing and sharing my writing with others.

This other kind of writing comes like one piece of broken glass after another. I don’t know yet where it fits, but I know it is real. When the metaphorical stained glass is assembled then it makes sense. Until then it is a pile of glass.

Here is one ‘piece of glass.’

I will always be an advocate for the more intangible arts and writing. Through those activities I have developed other skills. I have contributed more help to others. I have stayed afloat during challenging times.

So, whether I am socializing, working, getting my car fixed or taking a picture of a mountain I have seen a thousand times since childhood, my heart feels the underlying inner support of the intangible, dare I say love?
