New Beginnings

When I had a stained glass business, I’d named it New Beginnings. It was my life mantra more than the name of a company. I think like an artist more than I think like a business person. (This is why I haven’t been able so far to have a long term successful entrepreneurial run with my creative endeavors… I don’t like the sales/marketing side of things.) I see myself as a participant of life more than someone’s employee, or even my own employee. I am aligned with the soul more than my bank account.

This is a photo taken before the stained glass shop New Beginnings.
A friend who worked at a company I worked for (Consulting Psychologist’s Press in Palo Alto, California circa 1994) gifted to me this partially completed lamp.

I know all relationships however long are impermanent if by changing life circumstances, the changing of another’s heart or death, the relationships will end. Even for love-filled long term relationships, there are endings and new beginnings which sometimes feel like a death and rebirth.

As Kahlil Gibran writes in his writing about Marriage: “Fill each other’s cup but drink not from one cup.” Perhaps this applies more broadly to all significant relationships we have. We are individuals having a soul experience within a sea of relationships. The relationships go better when we don’t loose sight of that.

Larger dynamics are at work in each life. I know, if one door closes another opens. If all doors close, a window opens. If all windows close, I might be trusting the wrong people. Get a pry bar and go to a different house. There is always a way to move forward in life.

It feels like this past month dramatic endings have happened, and equally dramatic beginnings have surfaced. I’ve reached the pinnacle of meditations and prayers and a path is emerging. (at long last)

Some transitions are light and go easily. Others are filled with letting go of attachments which is hard for me. The greatest lesson was to not sell myself out in a world where so many encourage you to, and if you don’t they try to force you to.

Childhood issues sometimes have lead me to trust the untrustworthy, or seek what is not right for me believing in the moment that it was.

The solution has been to feel the energy vibrations. They never lie. Within the deepest stillness the answer is always there and the path becomes clear. If this seems vague, it is. Changes always begin in the unmanifest. Then one day, they manifest in physical form.

Culture, politics, relationship, physical characteristics of a person’s life, and even their physical health is down wind from the unmanifest. Because I have known that from a very young age is why I am still walking this earth.

Taking time in meditation allows a safe space for growing aware of the unmanifest. It doesn’t compete or lord over that which is down wind, it provides the opportunity for the manifestations of life to be more conscious and of higher vibration. It HELPS. It creates win-wins. It creates better decisions that create better outcomes.

For me, prayer and mediation is the pry bar, and it is the new house and it is the only place I ever want to live. When I am there, I know rain or shine, I am where I need to be, living the life I am meant to live. When I am there relationships, life activities, and vocational aspirations flow in positive ways.

In childhood I was grateful for new beginnings. In adolescence, I was grateful for new beginnings. In every stage of adulthood, I continue to be grateful for new beginnings.
