People’s History of the United States has been on my list to read for a long time. Now’s the time.
Daring Greatly is well timed. I haven’t read Brene Brown for awhile and could benefit from her perspective. She is like a steady dose of self-esteem and assertiveness. I find mine ebb and flow, especially when I get tired and reading her work lifts me up.
The Purpose Driven Life was not on my radar as I don’t know of this author. It was gifted to me by a friend and I am always up for something new from an author I hadn’t known previously.
Lilias! Yoga was an immediate YES! Thanks to a post from Yoga Journal about her. Even though I’ve met lots of yoga teachers mostly in Santa Cruz, CA all who probably knew of her or even knew her since she had been teaching for decades, I’d never heard of her. Looking forward to going through her book.
I also have DVD set for Tai Chi on the way. It took a while to find one that was of the style I was searching. Some Tai Chi programs cater to a martial arts fighting/defense style. I was looking for a qigong health and centering style which is slower. I think I located a good one and it is on order.
I am in the middle of several other books. My old way of reading which is returning was to have 4 or 5 going at once. One was a spiritual/psychological/self help uplifting book. One was a well known classic. One was a light novel that caught my interest for entertainment, and another was some kind of teaching book. These were often photography, art, stained glass, diet, fix-it projects, or sewing. There was also often something trade related according to what I am doing for a living at the time such as medical topics.
No matter what I was in the mood for, or how alert or tired I was, something would work to read. I took some vacation so had several days off last week. It was nice to have some time to dig in to some new ones.
