One night this week, I decided to sit and write an outline for a blog by throwing on to a page whatever came to mind, and reword, rework, reorder it later. As it worked out, I liked what I wrote, so I am writing it down here just as it initially was:
When someone tells you no, verbally or non-verbally, accept their no. Only then are you free to find the ones who say yes.
If you look outside of yourself for your happiness, it will not only make you unhappy, it will make it easier for others to manipulate you.
Don’t let anyone tell you that compassion and love don’t exist. What they actually are saying is that they never found it, and so they don’t believe it exists.
If you feel stuck in life, read. It puts you in touch with thousands of people on most every subject. If you read a book of an author who is a warm person, their warmth rises from the page and lifts you up.
If life feels constricted, think of a topic, hobby or healthy interest that you are passionate about. Pursue it alone, or find a local public club or group that is doing the same thing and join with them. When you act on something you are truly passionate about, it opens doors within and in the world. The best door may not be what you expect.
If you are angry or experiencing other negative emotions, find ways to deal with the emotions before they cause you to screw up your life.
For every difficult chapter, event, or person in your life, there are potentially 10 people who can help lift you up and guide you through a difficult time. You might need to seek them out. They might be an author, teacher, or counselor. If you sincerely look, there is always someone.
The living arrangement, relationships, car, pet, education, or job another has is not telling of what is right for you. Knowing yourself deeply is what leads to what is right for you. Social engagement makes it tempting to compare.
If you have a self-esteem problem, work on it. Healthy self-esteem is a precursor for accomplishment in any realm of life because it determines if you will let yourself achieve it.
The end goal is to keep moving forward. How fast you can go in any one moment is irrelevant. If you realize you are facing backward, simply turn around.
My learned lofty life lessons might resonate with another or they might not. Each are free to develop their own.
