In the short time I have this morning (8/27/24) before I get ready for work, I present some recent photos.

One thing I will miss when I leave this apartment is the view. But, alas, life moves forward. I sense changes looming, some are already happening, and some I don’t yet know.
I am more comfortable living with the unknown than I was when I was younger. Maybe this is because everything that has frightened me as I traveled through the unknown has worked out. Looking back, it was not the unknown that was causing the discomfort but my worrying. You can more easily travel through times of change and unknown if you live in the moment and apply your energy to what is needed rather than wasting energy and focus worrying.
I have heard it said worrying is like praying for what you don’t want to happen. That strikes me as true. Better to set your intentions, pray and work toward that. Choose optimism over worry.
In modern times, there is less acceptance of the concept of God and prayer. The way I see it, science deals with the physical laws of the universe. Spirituality and prayer deal with human consciousness. Religion at its best is a pursuit of the highest of this, but as physical institutions in the world, the theory of what they want to represent and what they actually do can differ. Science and spirituality, in my view, are not mutually exclusive but can coexist for the same reason both math and poetry are valid.

This little hitchhiker showed up when I was eating lunch in a parking lot during a work day on the south side of Colorado Springs. He looked at me and I looked at him for the duration of my lunch. I then traveled about three miles north, in which time he continued, despite the wind, to clutch the windshield.
I stopped at a red light, and he saw it as an opportunity to launch off my car into his new habitat. I’ve never seen as many grasshoppers as we have this year. There have been local news reports on the population explosion.

In an early morning, I was looking out the window in a quiet moment. I noticed this potted plant on the table next to me and liked this particular image. I recently bought the pot at a garage sale, and had repotted one of my plants into it. In the moment, It looked like an angel was looking after the plant, which is pretty cool.
