So Much to Choose From

One of my mother’s Morning Glories in front lawn this week

It has been a while since I have written here since I have been immersed in creative exploration.  I’ve been journaling and writing on longer term projects.  I work 40+ hours a week and in my spare time, I have spent some time with family, and some doing art,  singing into GarageBand for fun to explore my vocal range, and doing lots of harvesting of the garden.

Biggest broccoli so far

I have a new idea of a way to give back to the local community here, but am running it by the people in my company first.  If all hurdles clear, more will be said about this later. Stay tuned!

Sometimes I get on social media, but I don’t stay long.   In the last 40 years, most of that time I have not had a TV in my home. I don’t have much interest in getting one.

I get news from YouTube clips of recent newscasts which seems to work.  The advantage of that is you see things that are trending and might be important, but you can also search for specific topics.

You can also search for about anything else: any past event, any  product you are considering buying, any how-to for a hobby or household task.

Among my favorites are painting videos showing the sequence of how the artist puts the paint on the canvas or paper and in what order.

I’ve been following breaking news but don’t dwell on it.  Every death is tragic.  Every hero and good deed is appreciated.  Every child is precious.  Every adult is precious.   Anyone who doesn’t believe that might want to reorder their priorities.

I don’t have much to say beyond that.  If I would give advice to anyone, it would be don’t get caught up in the hype of the moment whatever it is.  People are very good at manipulating emotions for personal gain. I am not one who believes in keeping young people from the internet. It can be a source of infinite learning if you are selective and use it for that. However, it is important to realize not everything you find there is accurate or well-intentioned.

Love exists.  Friendship exists. Both are worth having in your life. They come in subtle whispers in your soul and long term relationships filled with what seem like ordinary moments.

The best friendships rarely burst into your life quickly through social media.  It is best to go out and find people in person.  Attend events you are interested in.  Creating art, creating music, woodworking  or mountain climbing might have a more long term enjoyment than radicalized political groups, but each to their own.

None of the people who have destroyed their lives getting radicalized and harming others would have listened to someone like me anyway.  What I consider interesting might seem boring to them.

If enough people of different demographic groups DO get involved with peaceful activities through churches, hobbies, vocations, health fitness groups, gardening, etc. and develop healthy social lives, maybe there would be a place for the lonely ones to go.

Just a thought; we are powerful. That power can be used to make this would a better place.  Soooo… arise, go forth, and draw cute little flowers on AngelHeart bags with non-toxic paints.

Or do something else…

That is the beauty of life.  There is so much to choose from.
