Old Book Finds

Going through the boxes of books in my storage I ran across these. The Allons-Y text book is from a class my cousins and I attended in Utah. I sat down with these books this week and became so inspired, I ended up signing up for a year of Rosetta Stone language lessons.

We’d gotten far into the text in the class, so hopefully since I have been through some of the material before, I will pick it up again. The dictionary and verbs book will probably be more helpful later. Right now I am doing the Rosetta Stone lessons, using the flash cards and reviewing the text book.

A nice thing about Rosetta Stone is it has you speak the phrases it is teaching and it doesn’t let you advance til you get it right. That will help with French especially. Learning Spanish, it was easy to know how to pronounce everything. The letters were the same sounds most if not all the time. French is very different. To hear the pronunciation, and to see the written phrase, I would not guess one goes with the other so it requires double memorization for each word, phrase or sentence.

I remember we got as far as counting to 1000 and telling time in the French class. I’m looking forward to catching up again to where I was, and beyond.
