When the world feels heavy just look up. Just look around.
Watch a video about a natural part of the world of which I don’t know. Learn about the people. Smile at a someone I don’t know for no reason. Notice how radiant someone’s smile is. Appreciate humor, and colors of nature and life.
Take a long walk. Listen to the rustling trees and stream nearby. Hear birds, notice where they are. Feel the breeze, notice the temperature. Breathe the fresh outdoor air. Go to a lake. Watch a fish jump, or a duck glide on to the water.
Think of ten things I appreciate about people I see all the time or know well. Reflect on how far I’ve come and all that I’ve accomplished. Notice the vastness of a night sky. Ponder the infinite wonder that I am here at all to stand and look up at it.
Give thanks for this life.
I saw a giant bright moon over the horizon last night, I later learned was the Feb 1, 2026 Snow Moon. Even if I’d stopped my car to get a photo it would not have done the scene justice. It was a large, round lamp hanging in the sky over a silhouette of mountains.
The above photo was taken earlier in the year, producing a similar feeling of awe. That has been my experience this week… feeling tired? Just look up… just look around.
We live in an amazing world.
