As of this week, thanks to several coming to help, my parents, their once mint color house now has it’s first coat of new paint, and a new look.
Photo taken today as I was touching up on all sides. There is still some work to be competed, like the trim on sides and back, but the vast majority of the work is done. I’d been wanting to do this for my parents for a long time and my brother who has painted many houses took the lead. It was a fun project. I am grateful to my brother and sister and their family members who helped. They did not have to come and help but they chose to.
When the house is completely finished, it will match a painting brochure my mother liked. The front door will be red and the garage door will be tan.
Also, spotted today were anise swallowtail butterflies. I kept seeing them flying around, and one even flew into me as I was painting. I stopped to see if one would stay on my mother’s Echinacea flowers long enough for me to get a photo. Not only did he linger for minutes, but one of his buddies joined him.
This little guy flew into my shirt while I was painting. There were talk of wasps among my family because several were displaced in the process of painting, and when I would feel something in my shirt I jump in panic, but then the feeling would go away, and I thought maybe I was mistaken. After about the third time of feeling something crawling on my back, this little guy fell from my shirt. Photo credit to my sister Sara, because I did not have my phone on me at the time.
I like how this little guy looks like a cartoon man with big eyes and a beard. I have never seen this kind before, but researching it, I think it is the eastern eyed click beetle or Alaus oculatus.
