A day at the garden, June 21…

I am harvesting now which brings on its own preparation. One day I decided to harvest and realized I didn’t have scissors, or a bag to put the veggies in. Then next time I took those, but realized if I put a cooler in the trunk and took ice blocks with me, I can keep them in there until I get home.
Now the process is becoming less difficult, although bringing the produce home now means I need to prep it to store and eat. I need to eat what I have prepped and stored so I can keep re-harvesting. I have given a lot away and will continue to because there is no way I can use it all myself, nor was that ever my intention.
Note: in the video I say I used Eco Grow on the garden for grasshoppers. I meant to say Eco Bran. I put a note in the film to clarify but thought I’d also state it here. I was told Eco Bran was less toxic than some products and only kills grasshoppers. The Buddhist in me doesn’t want to kill even a grasshopper, but I realized, given the quantities of them that were emerging, it was either Eco Bran, or having no garden.
I think of the first day I started, by deciding to get these garden plots. It was such a fluke manifestation. My father thought to ask me to come with him to see his garden plot. I nearly said no, but decided to say yes. Then upon learning of the available beds, I had a freak change of heart and grew very excited to try it myself, not knowing if the enthusiasm would hold. Man did it ever! What a difference having it has been.
This may well become a life-long hobby now.
