Above is a snapshot of a moment while I was editing Eva’s Journey before it was published.
Writing today is happening and not. Ideas are forming, but the detailed writing doesn’t follow, but that seems okay. I know what I want to say. Where I struggle is the narration. Also, where I struggle is, all the many notecards accumulated don’t seem to all fit in one book. It got a little easier when I started sorting them into this book idea and that book idea. Suddenly, organizing a common theme for each book grew easier.
Also happening this week, I’ve painted the garage door, and today and tomorrow I am painting the front door of my parent’s house. The front door was ‘roughed up’ (sanded) and I’ve applied white primer. It seems weird to be painting a paint color called Cherry Cola, on a front door. How can that look good? But it looks good on the brochure my parents used, so as we were pleasantly surprised by the green house, warm cream trim, and tan garage door, I am sure I will be pleasantly surprised by the Cherry Cola front door.

I am grateful to my brother and his family. They have been so good to my parents since they have moved here from California. I am feeling better about my next moves knowing my parents are in great hands. What are my next moves?
I will have more on that next year because likely by then I will have made them.
Last but not least, the Aspen Acres fire…. well, we are not evacuated. It has expanded to 100k acres and is 36 percent contained as of the update I watched yesterday. The contained parts are east. The still growing parts are northwest and southwest. The northwest part is going up into high elevation terrain where the fire is hard to fight. It is still far from Canon City, and I noticed the local talk, at least on social media few appear fearful that the fire will come here. Although as long as the fire burns, which we have been told will probably burn all summer, there is always a chance, but it is not likely.
However, this morning I noticed the road to Wetmore is closed according to the sign of lights along the highway. The manditory evacuations of Coal Creek, Rockvale, and Williamsburg were set to pre-evacuation. I heard from coworkers who lived in that area the evacuation was due to smoke not belief that the fire was headed that way. This blog is not meant to give completely accurate information, only information of my own perspective.
