I’m just finishing an 8 hour work shift and about to leave for home. A great thing about this shift is the dazzling sunrises I sometimes see as I am leaving.
I am glad to be serving seniors in Canon City at a facility that helps them around the clock. It has been a joy to get to know the RNs and work with a large community handling every aspect of care.
It feels like good work and I am happy to do it. At first, eight hour shifts on my feet caused my muscles to grow very sore. Although that hurt, it felt like good hurt. I knew it was taking my “work-outs” to a higher level. I still am a little sore, but not as much, telling me slowly I am becoming more fit. In addition to gradual physical improvement, this role has been a source of learning, salary, and benefits, and a good environment to be 40+ hours a week as I navigate life in Canon City.
As I sit here, I feel like keeping this post focused on praise of my choice of workplace because in a very real way, it made this successful life chapter possible. I can’t think of another choice I could have made that would have fit more with how I wanted to serve and fit with with other parts of my life.
So many levels of my life are active. Heather is genuinely healing, growing, learning. Heather is genuinely enjoying and supporting family. Heather is sleeping a lot during the daytime, and gardening when she is not sleeping.
Simple life. Works for me…
