Beyond Midlife

Taken just now, 1:20pm 8/26/25

This blog isn’t released at my normal 4:00am because as I sit here at 1:00pm, I haven’t started it yet. I thought to write it last night, but nothing came to me to write. Well, actually, about a million things came, but I didn’t think I could get all million in one short blog post and had a hard time focusing on any one piece of it.

When that happens, I seek to rise to a bird’s eye view of things… my life, relationships, achieved dreams, gratitude, unachieved dreams, disappointments, humility, grace…

In some ways I still feel like someone in my twenties. In other ways, I feel my actual age (I am turning 60 in October.) I am not having a negative reaction to the birthday, only a reflective time which was occurring anyway.

What have I achieved in this life? What would I still like to achieve? How can this happen adding new events, goals and relationships even as all existing relationships are tended to?

My recent blog posts are showing this. When I get introspective, I like to do new creative things. It helps my mind clear and open up to new possibilities. That is why I like art. That is why I like music (although I don’t consider myself a musician.)

My fledgling attempts with GarageBand lately don’t hold a candle to Yanni’s out of this world music, but creativity is creativity, and in my own little tiny GarageBand pond, I am creating happiness if only to my own ears. It is fun to try something that is new to me.

As for the fruits of all this reflection, there aren’t many. Not yet anyway. But happily, there is so much that is going well and people in my life to be grateful for. So, I check items off my to do list, work, rest, ponder, dream and enjoy the enormous love that is already in my life.
