As I prepare for a move I ran across some old writings and poems.
Below is a very old poem yet the message still speaks to me. It still makes me happy to read it.
This poem also created around the mid-1990s was on page 275 of a Word document called neweva.
The original document was called Eva, but when I did a major editing overhaul, the resulting new document became neweva. It would eventually be edited until it became the manuscript for the book, Eva’s Journey.
Many of these poems were removed but those who have read my book would know, many of them also stayed in.
Another from the neweva document:
This last one I include even though time has taken its toll and it is a little smeared.
I wrote it as a message in my Christmas cards but it speaks to me personally about something deeper. It feels the same reading this as it does sitting in a really good meditation. All cares drop a way and an expansiveness and delight replace them.
The last half of my life will be embracing emotional health, self care and levity. All the activities and mediums that support that rise to the top. The older I get the more I understand the importance of that.
I read and wrote voraciously in the nineties and aughts. My writing voice has taken a long pause, but is not gone.
I feel it stirring in unexpected moments, like hope, and wonder. For me, the soul’s journey is the most important thing. Sometimes it brings the expected, other times it doesn’t. However, I have found the only true life mistake is straying too far from it.
